Interview with Reiki Master Byron Crowell

Hello Fellow Bloggers,

I am pleased to have a guest with us today; his name is Byron Crowell who is the owner and operator of White Spirit Healing which offers Reiki treatments.

Byron can you tell us a little about yourself and how you got into healing?

“Who am I? I think that is a good question, I think we are all constantly asking ourselves that question.  Let me introduce myself, I’m Byron Crowell, I’m Canadian, and live in the Netherlands.  I’ve been doing Spiritual Healing for about 25 years, and have been a Reiki Master for 13 years.  I was introduced to the healer’s path by my mom when I was very young.”

“My mom was very interested in healing and herbs and had even had studied to enter Nursing (though had quit school to get married). I still have very fond memories of taking walks through some of the wooded trails through some of the wooded areas in St. Albert, where she’d point out the various plants, and how the could be used in healing. I absorbed every word.“

“I was first introduced to Reiki in 1998 when I was suffering frequent migraine head aches.  One of my friends, (who were in the middle of learning Reiki 2) offered me Reiki…  Within 10 minutes my headache was gone.   I was amazed, and decided I had to learn it for myself.   By December 1999 I had finished my Reiki Master classes.”

What exactly is Reiki?  Can you briefly describe what a typical session involves?

“You covered what Reiki is, and the definition of the words Rei and ki is in a recent blog, so I instead of repeating that here, I will take it to a little higher understanding of what it is.  In his book, ‘Reiki The Healing Touch’ William Rand went deeper into the esoteric meaning of the Japanese kanji character for Rei that gives as a much deeper understanding of the ideogram.   Rei can more accurately be interpreted to mean higher knowledge or spiritual consciousness.   He later described Reiki as  “It is the God-Consciousness called Rei, that guides the life energy called Ki, in the practice we call Reiki.”

“In a typical session,  I start with a brief consultation with the client, find out what his main concerns are, which gives me an idea of the area’s I need to focus are.  At the same time I am observing his aura, and looking for other issues of concerns.   Then once the client is on the table, I begin the very nonintrusive reiki therapy. This may involve ‘laying on hands” but can also be done from the next room, or the other side of the world.”

“Unless I’m intuitively guided to do otherwise, I start with clearing the aura of any negative or disruptive energy that may be clinging to it…  These are usually caused by stress or negative emotions, arguments, or picked up from others in our environment.  I do this by whipping the aura and washing it with positive energy…  Then, I continue going through a series of hand positions, starting at the head, and working my way down to the feet.  The traditional hand positions cover the major organs, the chakras and the meridians.  Though often more experienced reiki practitioners, combine intuition and experience to focus extra attention to where the client will gain the most benefit.”

 Who would benefit from Reiki?

“Everyone from 6 months of age to 106 years of age.  I’ve even had the privilege of treating during pregnancy, it can be amazing how receptive how the unborn child is to Reiki, (even to the extent of moving closer to the hands of the practitioner.  I have also treated animals.   (Cat’s and dogs, though have heard of horses being treated also).  Children and Animals usually require shorter sessions.”

“I would urge most people who have chronic or reoccurring conditions to try a session or a series of sessions.  Often a reoccurring condition is caused by old emotions or memories being stored in the body (or muscles), which is held until the body releases it.  With the help of the Reiki, in combination of releasing the emotions and the energy within our memories we are able to heal.  I will stress that Reiki isn’t a replacement for medicine or medical attention.  But when used in conjunction with proper medical treatment, it can be amazing.

Do you offer Reiki services via the internet as well, as in person?

“Yes, I have years of experience doing online Reiki sessions, in this case, I do much the same as the session I mentioned above, with the exception that I go to the clients energy.  And go through the hand positions as I would if they were in the practice.  By feeling the reaction of their energy to the various hand positions, and from hearing their feedback, I know how the session is progressing.”

“I also teach Reiki online, It’s much more study and book intensive than taking a lesson in person, but with the help of Skype and a camera in the practice, I can show the various hand positions also.”

Where can a person obtain further information regarding your services?

“The best way to obtain further information is via email at whitespirithealing@live.nl  or my Facebook page  www.facebook.com/WhiteSpiritHealing. Our website is still under construction and can currently be found in Dutch at http://members.ziggo.nl/werkmane/

Personal philosophy on life. Your passions in life?

“Over the years, I’ve learned to keep it simple.  Life becomes as complicated as we wish to make it.  We are here to help and truly love each other.  Not for what we gain from them, or who we desire them to be, but for who they are.”

“My biggest passion in life is empowering and healing people. So that they can shine in whom they are. I also love meditation, cooking, (I’ve worked e worked in restaurants for years, when I lived in Canada). I enjoy time spent with nature. reading, and last but not least, I love spending time with family and loved ones.”

How do you cope with adversity?

“That depends on the situation, I try to remain calm, and think of the I AM affirmation.’I AM the only presence acting here.’ Responding with anger doesn’t help anyone.  When in doubt, hug a kitty.”

Hobbies and interests?

I mentioned before I love cooking, and since I no longer work as a cook, I enjoy cooking as a hobby. I also love to lose myself in a good book, lately I’ve been re-reading The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, next on my List is finally reading the last book of the Earth’s Children Series. I hope to be able to visit to Scotland again soon and if I can get my girlfriend on a plane visiting Edmonton, and the also spending a week or two in the Canadian Rockies.

Can you share something unique about yourself and/ or your practice?

Besides Reiki and spiritual healing, I combine some Shamanic rituals (such as soul or energy retrieval), and I also work with St. Germain and the violet flame. I also incorporate I AM affirmations into my sessions. I believe in looking at the emotional cause of the illness in order for it to be released making room for healing to begin. “

Future aspirations?

“In the future I plan on taking and attaining certification in Kinesiology, ( touch health) which can give me another way to diagnose and treat clients.  I was introduced to it years ago when I did an internship when I first came to the Netherlands.”

Thank you Byron for taking the time to appear as a guest on my blog.  I wish you much success!

Namaste
